yeah! i just came back from OBS! it was rather okay, but i didnt know why the course 1 ppl said until like it was so damn fun lor.

fongzhi and i didnt quite enjoy the camp, probably because we didnt really know anyone from our watch and we are like, alrdy dependant on our family and home. we really missed home these few days during the camp and it seemed like eternity.

wth, like im seriously BURNT and in PAIN. thanks to the canoeing under the sun for like arnd 9 hours.

okay, so this is wat happened for the 4D3N camp at PULAU UBIN.

I reached school at 7 and waited for leck fz and marianne. then when everyone had gathered, we set off for punggol jetty. we then took a boat from there to PULAU UBIN-outward bound school campsite. the instructor LIEW was like talking to us for arnd half an hour and making us play some icebreaker games and then we finally got splitted up into our watches.

my watch was called MUNSHI, named after some guy called munshi abdullah. our instructor was ai chin. i didnt know anyone in there, so i didnt quite enjoy being in the watch. our watch consists of me, shiyun, hui ming, sharon, xiao jun, audrey, rachel eng, jia wei, mun wee, yun han, ding jie, vincent, suan kai, melvin, si rui, wei sheng, pang hean, and some other guys. i wasnt that close with rachel and her friends, so in the end i went with shi yun and her dance friends, but still felt kinda left out. i wanted to go to leck's group so badly. at least there's pampam! haha, and weiping, sweehong, and some other people that i know.

after we were allocated into our groups, we did some introduction and played some games. then we were brought around the school compound and later to our bunks.

wth, our instuctor said that the water was potable. but like it tasted of chlorine! i think it taste much worse than swimming pool la.

we then went to some forest within the obs compound and set up our bashas. after setting the bashas up, we built our rafts with barrels and some pipes.it was rather well done, i should say, with the help of the scouts from our watch. soon, while building the rafts, it was raining damn heavily and we had to carried the rafts back into the shelter and continue building it. we then played the 'helium' hoop game while the other watches, mainly sui sen and barker, went somewhere else and waited for the rain to stop. we bathe and had our dinner and we didnt sleep in the bashas we built in the forest because of the rain.

later, we went to the main hall and we were taught some rope tieing stuff for belaying and we went to sleep in our bunks. creepy crawlies were all around the campsite. argh,

Second day

the next day, we got up at 5.15 and went to test our rafts. it was quite succesful, except that one or two barrels werent tied properly and they were separated from the raft. but we didnt capsized and that was the aim of the raft building- to build a raft that wont capsize to accommodate the watch.

we then learnt belaying skills and i guess yajun was like so scared when i belayed her. hahas, i am like lousy at belaying and i nearly flew up when she was 'falling'. luckily, yunhan anchored me or else i would have flew up.

then had our lunch.

we played rock climbing or rather sports climbing and i managed to climb to the top! yeah! hahas. but zhan hong was like some monkey and he managed to climb the really difficult panel, which was slanted. so all of us were like 'wowing' and stuff when he successfully climbed to the top. we then packed our backpacks and got ourselves ready and we trekked to OBS campsite 2, which was the old obs campsite. our backpacks were like damn heavy , cause we carried ponchos and our clothes and somemore we had to walk 1.6km to the old campsite, so we were like dying when we reached. my back was almost on the verge of breaking, argh.

we settled down as soon as we reached there and learnt canoeing skills. while canoeing, i was like trying so hard to look for jellyfish. i havent seen one before, and i wanted to see how it looks like. we then bathe before setting up our bashas there and starting to cook.

our rice was like so uncooked and hard, but we still ate it. we had a really hard time cooking the rice and the corn, so obviously we cant waste the food we've cooked. we sat around at the jetty after eating and talked until the instructor Gideon briefed us abt the expedition next day. then we went to sleep in the bashas and the floor was so damn hard and i was flipping around, trying hard to sleep. finally managed to sleep after 10 to 20 mins.

third day

we woke up at 5 plus and got ready for the canoeing expedition around pulau ubin which was about 20 km long.

20km?! imagine walking 20km, canoeing 20km is like a thousand times worse. like we have to use lots of energy.

we had to eat our lunch on the canoes, so we brought the snacks obs had prepared for us. then we canoed under the really hot sun for around 6 hours and settled down at a small island no bigger than a house for our lunch. then we continued our expedition and i was like so damn tired alrdy, cause the other people in my canoe didnt had the strength, so i was like paddling the hardest among them, and i rested every few minutes. our boat was so lagging behind.

suddenly like when we were almost reaching the destination, the weather changed, and a storm brewed. we had to go against the current, which was so difficult, and we couldnt steer properly as the waves were going hard against us. we drifted away and finally manage to get back on the course and we stranded ourselves on some beach while waiting for the other canoes to reach the beach safely. when other canoes finally reach the beach, it started raining heavily. some of the canoes were at the other side of the beach, and we were separated by lots of trees, so we couldnt find one another. it was freezing cold and finally our instructors came to our rescue by handing us ponchos on their speedboat. then we all waited for the rain to get a bit better before canoeing back to the destination.

we washed the canoes back at the campsite and then hiked back to obs campsite 1- where we were at on the first day.
then we washed ourselves up and went for dinner. then we were like feeling as if we were still on the canoe, bobbing up and down. i guessed it was because we spent 9 hours on the canoe. after dinner, we went to the tunnel. it was sort of like a maze and really damn dark. so we had to depend on the person in front of us to tell us where to go and stuff. then we went straight back to the bunks and slept after the long day out at sea.

ohyeah, and we celebrated shiyun's birthday! she's damn suay, like her birthday is on the camp day. hahas, but we all sung birthday song for her and sirui took the apollo wafer cake as a substitute for birthday cake and he stuck a candle on the cake. yeah! then i think shiyun was quite touched or something.

im so damn TANNED and itching with mosquito BITES.

4th day

finally, the last day.

i was so looking forward to it. we woke up at 6 instead, because we overslept and we were really tired after the expedition. however, our watch was still the earliest, and we went for breakfast after scrubbing the mass tins clean. after breakfast, we went to the inverse tower and all of us were belaying and climbing the elements for 2 or 3 hours.

pamela and i did the tower which had some rock climbing thing at some tires and nets together.

we then had our lunch and went to the souvenier shop to buy our obs shirts. i left my pair of shorts there without knowing and luckily audrey took the pants for me and gave it to me. then mun wee, yun han and i took the mass tins back to the bunk and halfway through, we stopped and saw the others and began to talk. i left my mass tin on the ground and when we were about to move on, i was like 'eh? where is my mass tin? ' lol, then i searched for it before finding it on the ground somewhere where i left it earlier.lol, i am so absent minded la, forgetting everything.

we did housekeeping and packed up. took some pictures before leaving the camp.

after reaching punggol jetty, leck and i went to paya lebar mrt and fz went back to her house before meeting us at sing post mrt.

then after we ate our dinner, we went home.

i was like so damn tanned and feeling so pain all over.

argh.

i guess we must really thanks the guys from munshi for helping us wash the dishes and set up the bashas. you guys didnt really complain when you all did the work while we girls slack sometimes. hahas, thanks guys!
